Kadamanitta (1935-2008)

[ Famous work: - Kurathi, Kadinjool Pottan, Mazhappeyyunnu Maddhalam Kottunnu, Kadamanittayude Kavithakal, Velli Velicham, Sooryashila, Shantha...]

I don't want to let sadness,

Flow like a wild river of lamentation.

But a boiling, burning steam,

Like lava, a hot mind.

No words of love or flirting,

I have no madhouse,

No raga. No Shruti. No variations.

Not a cool breeze,

But a storm, a fierce roar.

I will not intoxicate you,

I will not lull you.

The crystal beads on my chest.

Are life beatings more worth it or-

A corpse that neared the sunset.

In the desert, seeking green land,

The woodcutter's axe-

Turns back to the woodcutter.

The springs have dried up.

The wells have dried up.

But, will the rocks split

And the streams flow?

Is there a hope in Kadammanitta's hope?

Like the roaring thunder of thunder,

Kadamanitta's duties, Kadamanitta's poems.
