Sreekumaran Thampi (1941-)

[ Famous works: Achante Chumbhanam, Sheershakamillatha Kavithakal, Omanayude Oru Divasam, Ammaykkoru Thaaratt.]

Does Thampi need a pointer?

Does Thampi need a kingship?

Does Thampi need an ornament?

Does Thampi need a vigorous dance?

The song of the awakening soul risen,

When the elephants marched in procession.

Heard the sound of the cuckoo's bell;

Singing the first tune, seeking only one.

The moonlight dissolves in the moon.

At the temple of Uttara Swayam.

Kathakali and Thaipuya Kavadi,

Dances are beautiful in your mind.

Why is there vermilion in the evening?

In the mind of a Malayali girl?

In the core of the heart?

When the poetic flower cloud,

Begins to bloom and

Desire begins to rain.

A point of happiness,

A point of sadness.

Far away, far away, the blue sky,

Poetry written with the heart.

The nectar of love is its language.

I wish you good luck, Kerala, Kerala.
